In this 10th edition we are trying our best to correct errors that have re¬mained within the book. We simplified the reference numbers, also adjusted the prices to best reflect the tokens’ true value with the current market.
We have seen several large collections hitting the market, such as Rich¬ard Cooper and Doug Robins collections. The one that definitely attracted the most attention was the Robins Collection, which brought over $1 million in sales. Extremely sought after tokens as well as several new varieties were brought to the public, adding to that lots of high grade ones.
Many new varieties were added to this edition. One section, the Bust and Harp, was heavily reworked to included separately all different dies for that series. To make it easier to use for new collectors and old collectors alike we used the Courteau numbers as reference. Here’s an example, Co 1BH would be LC-60A (previously amalgamated with Co 3BH as LC-60E1), Co 2BH would be LC-60B, and so on. Thus the only conflict with the old attributions system is the LC-60B which was unfortunately already being used by Co 23BH.
We removed the “NONE CERTIFIED” statement as we realized that a lot of token collectors don’t submit their material to grading companies and that a token can be relatively common and have extremely few to none certified pieces as they might not be worth sending.
Overall demand for tokens is strong and a new refreshed edition is only going to help the market stay that way.
